The Orson Tracker Pro 2 is the definitive two-person adventure tent, tried, tested, and tough. Originally designed in NZ and continually refined since 2012, the Tracker Pro 2 delivers a perfect balance of durability, performance, and portability. Weighing in at just 1.75kg and packing down small, it is the ideal lightweight tent companion for duos carrying their own essential gear.

Engineered for optimal portability and weather protection, the Tracker Pro 2 weighs an incredibly light 1.75kg, making it a top choice for lightweight bikepacking and multi-day tramping in New Zealand. This freestanding tent features a sleek, aerodynamic shape specifically designed to combat New Zealand's strong winds and unpredictable weather. It is structured around a single 8.5mm aluminium pole which, along with the Korean pole clips, ensures a quick and simple pitch. The tent features a highly protective Ripstop Silnylon fly boasting a PU3000mm waterproof rating, complemented by an even tougher PU5000mm floor to guard against ground moisture. The design incorporates a practical front entrance with a vestibule for gear storage, making it a roomy setup for one person or a cosy option for two.

FAQs:

How many seasons is this tent rated for? Can I use this tent year-round?

The Tracker 2 Pro is a 3-season tent. While not a 4-season alpine tent it has specs that can handle year-round use and handles winds well. These tents are versatile and prioritize breathability, ventilation, and protection from rain and wind to handle New Zealand’s challenging weather conditions. Note that while these tents are excellent for the majority of camping situations, they are not recommended for winter alpine camping or extreme weather conditions when specialized alpine tents designed for winter or 4-season are more appropriate.

What is silnylon fabric? How is it different to polyester?

Silicone-coated nylon (silnylon) often with a polyurethane PU coating in the underside and polyester with a polyurethane (PU) coating are two different types of materials used in the construction of camping tents. A thinner, lighter silnylon fabric than more traditional thicker polyester makes for a lighter more compact packed tent. The silicone coating adds to tear strength and a waterproof PU coating means seams can be taped. Read here for more on tent fabrics and coatings

What is the difference between the Tracker 2 Pro and the Tracker 2 tents?

The tent design is the same tried and tested design used since 2012 but the fabric and some of the componentry has been upgraded. The Tracker 2 Pro is made using a lighter silnylon fabric making it around 200g lighter with a smaller packed size. It also features YKK zips, hi-viz zipper pulls and tensioners, and comes in a green fly and grey floor. The Tracker 2 Polyester tent is made using a thicker, heavier polyester fabric meaning it is a little heavier at 1.95kg and packs down a little heavier that the Pro version, with standard zips and zipper pulls available in Olive green and Orange colours.

Is this tent suitable for 2 people?

The Tracker 2 is a great option for people looking for a tent with plenty of room for 1 person but also has the option of accommodating 2 people if needed. It’s a roomy 1 person tent and cosy 2 person. The Tracker 2 floor has a 130cm wide inner at the entrance and tapers off to 100cm at the foot end.

Is this tent waterproof?

Yes, the Tracker has a PU3000mm PU coating on the fly and PU5000mm on the floor. These ratings will handle most weather conditions in NZ. Read our intro on tent waterproofing here

Do I need a groundsheet?

A groundsheet is optional – you can use this tent in full confidence without a groundsheet. The groundsheet is designed specifically for this tent and sits a few cm inside the inner floor to ensure that water does not get trapped in between. There are aluminium eyelets at the corners that can be used to hold it in place. The groundsheet offers:

  • greater protection of the tent floor extending its life
  • keeps the floor clean
  • boosts floor waterproofing in wet conditions
  • provides and extra layer of insulation
  • reduces moisture rising up and causing condensation
  • ability to set up the tent fly first or fly without the inner

delightful read
Format: Kindle
What a delightful read. The characters are awesome, the plot was so good, I loved it. I was intrigued and it kept me wanting more. Told in multiple pov, the book sucks you in and doesn’t let go. I cannot wait to read the next book.

not bad
Format: Kindle
I loved the plot of this book. The characters just didn’t have a lot of depth. The connections and “love” just weren’t communicated very well in the writing. The author didn’t write the sweet psycho trope very well at all either. Lachlan was just a mess of a character.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
